    WHERE Challenge

After receiving high praise from hundreds of participating teachers and students, organizers of the WHERE Challenge are pleased to announce that the contest will be back for a second year. The second annual WHERE Challenge will launch in September 2009 and run until January 31, 2010 and will offer thousands of dollars in regional and national prizes. Once again, the WHERE Challenge will ask Canadian students aged 10 – 14 years to discover the answers to these questions: What on Earth is in your stuff and WHERE on Earth does it come from? Students will be encouraged to use their imagination in their response to create an educational story about non-renewable Earth resources found in an everyday item.

New contest will run from September, 2009 to January 31, 2010

    www.filterforgood.ca

As part of its 2009 FilterForGood campaign, Brita has partnered with the award-winning organization Students on Ice (SOI) to launch the FilterForGood Eco-Challenge Student Grant Program. Through this program, Brita will send three of Canada's most promising young environmentalists on a life-changing educational expedition to the Arctic with Students on Ice this July. On the expedition, students will learn about climate change and environmental degradation with leading researchers and scientists in one of the world's greatest classrooms. They will experience nature in ways they've only dreamed and will see the planet with new perspectives as they are introduced to Inuit culture, and make connections with the natural world.

To apply, high school students are asked to visit FilterForGood.ca and submit a 2-4 minute video that showcases their leadership and what they are doing in their community to help protect the environment and tell us why they think they would benefit from an Arctic expedition.

    Submission deadline: June 7, 2009
